Documentary on the life and career of modern dancer and choreographer Lester Horton. The wide range of his work, which often addressed social issues; the multicultural nature of the companies he formed in Los Angeles; the development and codification of his technique; and his multiple talents as choreographer, composer, and designer are among the topics discussed within a chronological overview of his activities. Interviews with his dancers, friends, and associates include the viewpoints of Bella Lewitzky, James Truitte, Connie Spriestersbach, Elizabeth Talbot-Martin, Harry Hay, Marge Perces, Alvin Ailey, Carmen de Lavallade, Lelia Goldoni, Robert Lawrence Balzer, Dorathi Bock Pierre, Newell Reynolds, and Frank Eng; Joyce Trisler is quoted from a Dance Magazine interview.
