Content: These videos feature three recordings of a performance by the Merce Cunningham Dance Company. Reel 2 is filmed in wide shot, reel 3 is filmed in close shot, and reel 1 contains mixed footage from reels 2 and 3.
Creation/production credits: Lighting design: Josh Johnson. Costumes by James Hall.
Venue: Recorded in performance in the Ted Shawn Theatre, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, Becket, Mass., on Aug. 2, 2003.
Biographical/historical: Merce Cunningham's Events consist of a selection from his group and solo works performed to music and decor specially arranged for that event. Each event is performed only once, and not meant to be repeated.
