Content: The Bonnie Clark Collection consists mainly of studio portraits of African-American entertainers and publicity photographs of all-black productions (ca. 1910s to 1930s) collected by entertainer and female impersonator Bonnie Clark. The collection contains seven images of Clark, all depicting him costumed as a female impersonator. All the productions and most of the entertainers are unidentified.
Content: Collection includes work by Elcha, Bell Studio, Scurlock Studio, Woodard Studio and others.
Content: Some photographs bear photographer's or photography studio's handstamp on verso; some photographs bear photographer's or photography studio's blind stamp on recto. Some items are signed or printed in the negative. Some images have handwritten notations on recto or verso; two photographs have captions printed on recto; one item has a handwritten caption on recto. Some photographs are inscribed or autographed. Two items are matted. Some photographs are mounted on a black scrapbook page; some of these images are cropped.
